When I was planning my wedding, I found myself in quite a dilemma when it came to my wedding invitations - I simply couldn’t find anything I liked that was affordable and yet still glamorous enough to suit my style. All the invitations that I did like were approximately $6 - $12, each just for the invites. On top of that, I wanted a matching RSVP, save the date card, wedding program, directions card, accommodations card, place cards, menus, and table numbers. Yes, I had quite a list of demands, but hey – it was my wedding, and I wanted my wedding invitations to be stunning! If I were to purchase all of these coordinating wedding stationery items from a store or a catalog, it would have cost me a total of $4,738.92. I received quotes from a few different places, and this was the LOWEST cost. Oh, and did I mention that was only for 100 guests? More guests, more money. Granted, I wanted pocket folds and a pretty band around the closed pocket fold, but I thought $4,738.92 was way too much to pay for paper. Way too much. Still, I wasn’t ready to give up my dream of beautiful wedding stationery that didn’t look cheap or generic, and that portrayed my style. So I decided that this was a project I was going to have to take on myself.

After all, making my own wedding invitations would give me complete and total control over the look and luxury of my wedding stationery. And what bride wouldn’t love that? :). After having a DIY invitation template designed, I printed and cut everything out, assembled it altogether, added some embellishments, and voilà….my wedding invitations were complete. They were uniquely mine and the fact that I made them myself gave me such a feeling of pride and a sense accomplishment. And I couldn’t help but gush with excitement when my guests ooh’d and aah’d over how pretty my wedding invitations and matching stationery items were. My total cost came in at just a few hundred dollars, and I was thrilled. I got everything I wanted for waaaaaaaay less than my original quotes! Plus, I had such a fun time making my own invitations and I really took pride in my finished product. This fabulous feeling and money saving idea was something I wanted to share with other brides and therefore, Pretty Paper Invitations was born.
